UNDERSTANDING LVR

Understanding Loan-to-Value Ratio

Loan-to-Value Ratio, commonly abbreviated as LVR, is one of the key measurements used when assessing a property loan. It compares the amount being borrowed with the value of the property used as security.

For example, if a property is valued at $800,000 and the loan amount is $640,000, the LVR is 80%. The calculation is: $640,000 ÷ $800,000 × 100 = 80%.

Understanding LVR can help borrowers compare different deposit sizes, estimate how much equity they have and understand how changing the loan amount may affect their overall lending position.

LVR FORMULA LVR = Loan Amount ÷ Property Value × 100
